It looks like the indie hit Lazarus from superstar creator Greg Rucka is going to get the epic small screen treatment it deserves. Producer Matt Tolmach has secured the rights to the series and is in the early stages of developing the series. Tolmach is well known recently as the producer for The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as the upcoming Venom film and Spider-Man reboot.
Greg Rucka is going to take on a lead role by writing the script for the pilot episode, which keep the project in good hands as Rucka’s writing talents extend beyond just the comics medium. Lazarus co-creator Michael Lark will additionally serve as Executive Producer on the show, keeping things tied to the original as much as possible. This announcement comes on the heels of news about the Preacher television show, as well as the recent release of iZombie and the Daredevil series on Netflix. Not only are comic properties flooding television, but there seems to be a turn towards more adult fare that will allow mature themed comics to have a larger life in adaptation.
