Vertigo Comics Solicits September 2015

September’s solicits continue another lack of anything dramatically new, which is a problem for those who are still waiting for the big revamp we were promised at Vertigo.  It is really nice to see that Sandman: Overture will be wrapping up since issues have been released so haphazardly, and it is surprising to see that they will be releasing the Deluxe Edition trade in the same month as the final issue.  This is a long awaited collection since many fans could not keep up on the month to month issues, even though the art and covers were magnificent and Gaiman’s writing allowed each issue to stand on its own.
American Vampire: Second Cycle is still chugging along, as is Astro City, both of which Vertigo will need to carry the brand as the other titles are still struggling to find an audience.  The big notable here is the lack of miniseries, beyond Fables: A Wolf Among Us.  In recent months we have been treated to The Wake, Trillium, Woolf Moon, The Names, The Kitchen, as well as anthologies, but we see the offerings slimming down in September.  This could all be a part of the launch of new series towards the end of the year.  The various Astro City volumes are nice and a reminder that everything is being brought over to Vertigo.  Both Effigy and Suiciders are missing, so we kind of wonder what that means.
