Yes, you have been waiting for the X-Men to be brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and to just have them interact with the Avengers like they should.  Because of the ownership, the X-Men have had their own universe headed by the Brian Singer films.  Now the rumor is that X-men and the Avengers will be coming together in a joint project from Fox and Marvel Studios.

The rumor, which is coming from Peter’s Basement, is that there will be a formal announcement at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con, which is a normal venue for major film announcements.  The producer of X-Men, Lauren Donner, has already publicly stated that she would be excited to work on a crossover.

While there seems to be a lot of support for this rumor, there are some things working against it.  Fox owns the X-men characters like Wolverine as well as Deadpool and the Fantastic Four.  Marvel, because of the split royalty income, has gone as far as eliminating the Fantastic Four altogether as a team and de-emphasizing the X-Men.  Could they overcome their animosity and make it happen?
