Though many of us have noticed the terrible reviews the new Fantastic Four reboot are getting, and not to mention the fact that it is going to be out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity, and the lines were certainly not forming to see it.. 20th Century Fox is now reporting that opening day got $11.3 million in ticket sales, below what people were anticipating. The film itself only received 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the worst reviewed films of the year. In comparison to Ant-Man, who has only a fraction of the name power that the Fantastic Four has, it is quite a feat to make a F4 movie this bad and unpopular.
This may continue to give credibility to the notion that this separate Marvel universe, made up of Fox properties, is doomed to failure. It would make much more sense for Fox to make a deal with Marvel Studios so they could work the Fantastic Four and the X-Men into the MCU and give some input on how to not ruin these important franchises.
