When looking at the comic book sales figures every month, it is quickly apparent that the top two constantly have their swords clashed. This means that DC and Marvel are always within a few points of each other, with Marvel using taking the lead. Far below them comes Image Comics, and far below that comes everyone else. This has been an incredibly dominating system, but for the last several months Marvel has outflanked DC Comics at every turn. This was surprising as it happened even as a major slew of “#1s” were released from DC, which still fell far behind the big numbers that were expected. Now, looking at August, it seems like DC is gaining on Marvel and many of the major indie companies are stabilizing against Marvel’s Secret Wars domination.
Here we collected several lists put out that identify the market share of each comic company, as well as how many new comics they shipped in August. We are taking the great table compilation that Bleeding Cool released.
