Jason Aaron Signs Exclusive Deal With Marvel

Jason Aaron, who has made a huge name for himself with books like Southern Bastards and Scalped, has now signed a deal with Marvel to continue his superhero work with them for the foreseeable future.  Aaron helped launch the Marvel Star Wars line with their flagship title, which sold over a million copies its first month.  He has also been taking Thor through some of its most interesting iterations, from the Edda influenced Thor: God of Thunder, then the appearance of a female Thor, followed by the Thors police drama in Battleworld, and now The Mighty Thor relaunch.

Beyond The Mighty Thor, he will be writing Doctor Strange, whose first issue has already been released and has been almost universally praised.

This should not affect Aaron’s creator-owned work, which is right now over at Image with books like Southern Bastards.  The exclusive deals usually only mean licensed characters, almost always in the form of “Big 2” heroes, so you won’t see Jason penning DC books anytime soon.

Chronicling the adventures of Luke, Han and Leia after the destruction of the first Death Star, this flagship series of Marvel’s new Star Wars line continues to garner widespread critical praise.
