Mad Max has been sweeping the mediasphere for the first time in three decades. Bucking the antisemite and bringing home a story centered on feminist revolution, the film stands on its own as one of the best films of the year so far. Digging deep into the result of unmitigated patriarchy, capitalism, and environmental collapse, it is an almost spiritual meditation on rebellion and survival.
Plus its gotta a whole bunch of explosions and eyeless dudes playing flaming guitars.
In line with the massive release are four books coming from Vertigo, three of which play as prequels establishing the characters of Mad Max: Fury Road. The first two will be a one shot, the second will be a dual-issue miniseries to wrap them up. There will, of course, be a tradepaperback coming out shortly afterward. The fourth lets some of the best artists and creators in comics do splash pages inspired by the Mad Max graphic construct. Here is a look at what has been released, and what we have coming up.
