Vertigo Comics Solicits for December 2015

With December’s solicit for Vertigo we see the third and final month of the mega-release schedule that they slated for the fourth quarter of 2015.  This releases four new #1s, plus #2 for four others, and #3 for four more.  The brand new comics on this list are the relaunch of Lucifer, Last Gang in Town, New Romancer, and The Sheriff of Babylon.  Lucifer will likely get a lot of attention since it is being released along the same time as the new television show, but the other three starting this month really present some of the flexibility and diversity of the new Vertigo.

We will also note that most of the rest of Vertigo has been cleaned out, including Federal Bureau of Physics as they are releasing their fourth and final trade this month.  Astro City is the only comic from a previous release ongoing on this list, though we don’t know if American Vampire is done yet.  The last issue of Fables: The Wolf Among Us is released this month as well, calling to an end the year-long maxi-series and the entire Fables universe.

On the trade side, Vertigo continues its commitment to making available their entire library in well released trades with Hellblazer vol. 12, Absolute Transmetropolitican 2, and 100 Bullets Deluxe 4 coming out.  The one that really should make us take note is the deluxe release of Kill Your Boyfriend and Vinarama, collecting some great older work by Grant Morrison that really helps define what Vertigo has always been.

Forget what you know of England, of the “Land of Hope and Glory.” Instead, try damp and depressing, and embrace this miserable island for what it is. Our story kicks off in 1976: the country coming apart at its flared corduroy seams, a decade after the Great Train Robbery, when British crime has gone decidedly soft in the middle.
Time for a new generation of criminals to rise: a band of snotty-nosed heroes driven by destiny and cheap cider, who will strike fear back into the establishment, put art back into crime and crime back into art, and pull off what will become known as the heist of the century.
This new series from Simon Oliver (FBP: FEDERAL BUREAU OF PHYSICS) and Rufus Dayglo (Tank Girl), spans three decades, from the punk rock ’70s to the decadent ’80s and beyond, charting the rise, fall and redemption of a group of bandits that changed the face of the criminal underworld and closed the door on a legacy.
