For February, the main thing to focus on is the first issue of a new series, The Dark and Bloody. This is the first new series coming directly after the massive release of twelve new titles for Vertigo’s last quarter of 2015. This is a bit surprising since there are already so many new books, but it is exciting as it shows Vertigo’s commitment to having staying power. Astro City #32 stands out as the longest current running series on Vertigo, with the vast majority of Vertigo titles at this point being four issues or less. This is also the last issue of The Twilight Children, the miniseries from Darwyn Cook and Gilbert Hernandez. The Twilight Children seems to be the best reviewed of all the new Vertigo series, so it is unfortunate that this is only a short miniseries rather than an ongoing series of adventures.
As part of its ongoing release of Deluxe Editions of older books we get a new volume of Sweet Tooth and 100 Bullets, right in time for upcoming announcements about a possible film adaptation. Fables: A Wolf Among Us will be at #14, so for us that thought it would be a brief miniseries are hanging on since it is the last we have of the Fables universe.
