Vertigo Comics Solicits for July 2016

The most obvious stand-out for July’s Vertigo solicits is the second American Vampire Anthology, the sequel to the August 2013 oversized comic that included short stories by people like Gail Simone.  This second one promises to have just as much talent, with people like Scott Snyder, Kieron Gillen, Marguerite Bennett, and Joelle Jones.  It also shows how Vertigo likes to straddle the worlds of non-comic media and culture by bringing on Elliot Kalan from the Daily Show.  This may be an attempt by Vertigo to get American Vampire back on top in their world, but it does promise to be a solid seller and a runner for short-story comic awards.
The rest of those being released in July are pretty standard releases, with Slash & Burn and New Romancer seeing their trade collection as their miniseries already ended.  The final issue of Dark & Blood will be released, and we are well into our ongoing series like Lucifer and Clean Room.  What should be noticed is that this month the number of Vertigo series is shrinking, with a lot of our relaunch titles actually being miniseries that have to get replenished to keep the total up.  By this point Twilight Children, Jacked, New Romancer, and the others are over, and Suiciders: HelL.A. and Dark and Bloody are heading to their close.  This means that we can probably be expecting some new series later on in the summer, maybe in August or September.  We also note that there is the ongoing release of Vertigo collections, including the Fables Deluxe Book 13 and Y: The Last Man, Book 5, Deluxe Edition.
