The DC Cinematic Universe has been dramatically slow in comparison to what Marvel Studios has been doing for a decade. They are only just about to release their second DCU movie, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and they have seen very behind the times in failing to lead with any strong female heroes. Now they are finally getting the third part of the DC “holy trinity” with Wonder Woman.
DC has now released the very first clips, which are not a full trailer exactly. Showing them on the CW since it has become a DC hit-factory with Arrow, The Flash, and iZombie, the clip shows both that this Wonder Woman film will include multiple time periods and an origin story. The clips themselves are basically talked over with joint commentary from famed geek-boy Kevin Smith. Smith mainly looks awkward as his co-host mansplains Wonder Woman’s history in puffed up prose, but that is to be expected from the CW. We hear from Gal Gadot, the foreign-born actress who is inhabiting the role, as she tells a bit what we are going to be seeing in the origin story. This is exciting for Wonder Woman fans who have been waiting years since the mid-1970s television show, but also those who are fans of recent years who enjoy the play on mythology.
The real question here is whether or not this makes you more excited for the DCU!
